My wife who's a free lance writer has a family history of breast cancer on both sides of her family. We watched her Mother battle breast cancer and watched her Aunt die of breast cancer at the age of 29. My wife also got diagnosed with breast cancer and she made the difficult decision to have a prophylactic mastectomy because she wanted to take a pro-active choice and not wait for cancer to come to her. Fortunately there are no more traces of breast cancer and she has recovered from the diep flap breast reconstruction surgery. She is a survivor and I'm proud to have helped her through her journey with breast cancer. We have a lot of friends who are also writers and they've encouraged us to write about our journey, but we're struggling with how much we want to reveal about this very personal ordeal.

Congratulation to your wife for surviving the cancer. Follow-up care after treatment for breast cancer is important. Recovery is different for each woman. Your recovery depends on your treatment, whether the disease has spread, and other factors. Even when the cancer seems to have been completely removed or destroyed, the disease sometimes returns because undetected cancer cells remained somewhere in the body after treatment. Your doctor will monitor your recovery and check for recurrence of the cancer. Follow-up exams usually include the breasts, chest, neck, and underarm areas. Since you are at risk of getting cancer again, you should have mammograms of your preserved breast and your other breast. You probably will not need a mammogram of a reconstructed breast or if you had a mastectomy without reconstruction. Your doctor may order other imaging procedures or lab tests. So you should really be advised to have a follow-up care because it will be worth it even if it means using your payday loans so that it will not reoccur.
